Welcome
Each year about 50 Newcastle City Riders follow a 150 - 200 mile route across Northern England or Southern Scotland over 3 days. We usually raise around £15,000 for a cancer charity selected at our AGM.
In 2008, the 3 day ride from July 4th to 7th will start in Hull, follow quiet lanes to York then round the edge of the Yorkshire Moors to Darlington, and after enjoying the stunning scenery of Durham, will end up at Newcastle Civic Centre. We will be supporting the local charity Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust in 2008 We are still running regular Sunday training rides which start from Newcastle Civic Centre car park at 10am or from Four Lane Ends at 9am. Awards for All England is supported by the Arts Council England, the Big Lottery Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.
Nick Sherwood, the Chairman, said:
“We want to give people of all abilities the opportunity to get involved. It is not just a clique but an organised way for people who are reasonably fit to get together and raise money in a sociable atmosphere without feeling they have to be Lance Armstrong. Please see our website www.newcastlecityriders.org for details of our regular Sunday Rides and our 3 day charity ride in the summer”
