At our Xmas party and Presentation Night we presented a cheque for £9,000 to local cancer charity Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust Very well done to all the cyclists who put so much effort into the 2008 ride and also into the hard work of collecting sponsorship monies and sending it in If you would like to assist organising the 2010 Bike Ride please come to the next 2010 NCR RIDE PLANNING MEETING which will be arranged very soon. Our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING was held on Friday 13th February 2009 in the Royal Station Hotel and had quite a positive response,with 12 members attending However, Chairman Kevin, Secretary Pete, Social Secretary Cath, Website Secretary Pete W. and Minutes Secretary Esther all decided to stand down from their posts on the NCR Committee but have agreed assist NCR for a minimum interim period of 8 weeks from the date of the AGM until a new committee can be formed or until other measures are put in place to organise NCR activities Brian Gardner agreed to continue as NCR Treasurer and to manage NCR finances. Les Routledge volunteered to help promote NCR with the Press and PR as well as assisting brother George to maintain and to update the NCR website . Karen Brown agreed to co-ordinate the planning of the 2009 Charity Bike Ride for an interim period of 8 weeks in the absence of a Ride Director coming forward at the AGM. There have been a few offers of help to assist Karen but more are needed to ensure our main annual summer Charity Bike Ride goes ahead. If you feel you can help in any way - please let us know. It was agreed to press ahead with plans to organise this years Charity Bike Ride. However, we were unable to plan a Bike Ride this year. If you would like to keep in touch with NCR and don't receive an email very soon, please contact us. We need to update our records and be sure that we have your correct address We are still running training rides on most Sundays which start from Newcastle Civic Centre car park at 10am Click to see more photos of our activities Newcastle City Riders are a formally constituted voluntary organisation and in 2006 achieved a Lottery Grant through Awards for All of nearly £5,000 to help equip and publicise themselves in working towards their aim of supporting local cancer charities and by engaging people in healthy exercise.
Awards for All England is supported by the Arts Council England, the Big Lottery Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.
